Boyle Street Education Centre was in need of a new site that would allow them to update students with announcements, post schedules, and entice new potential students to enroll all while creating a calming and welcoming environment.

Opportunity:

Boyle Street Education Centre (BSEC) was in need of a new website and brand refresh to better communicate and connect with current and prospective students, as well as their parents and guardians. The goal was to create a modern, user-friendly platform that not only serves the educational needs of the school but also reflects the identity and values of the community it serves, including Indigenous students, families, and educators.

This project was about making the school more accessible, inclusive, and representative for all students, while also modernizing the brand to align with current digital expectations and community needs.

Approach:

Working closely with the BSEC team, I developed brand guidelines and a website mockup that provided them with the tools they needed to communicate effectively and deliver essential information at a glance.

This included:

• Designing a modern, clean layout that aligns with BSEC’s identity and mission.

• Creating a colour palette that reflects the diverse and inclusive nature of the school.

• Developing a simple CMS using WordPress and Elementor to give the school the power to update and maintain the site independently.

The entire project was crafted with the community in mind, ensuring that the website and brand would be welcoming, informative, and representative of the students they serve.

Execution:

After working with the BSEC team to align on an effective web layout and colour palette, I moved on to designing the website using WordPress and Elementor. This gave BSEC a simple, scalable CMS that they could manage themselves — a key SEO consideration for long-term search engine visibility and site maintenance.

The website was designed with the community at the center, ensuring that students, parents, and educators could find the information they needed quickly and easily — from class schedules, agendas, announcements, and more.

The brand refresh also focused on representation — ensuring that the school’s identity was clear, consistent, and meaningful to all students, especially those from Indigenous backgrounds.

Results:

The result was a beautiful, modern website that:

• Reflects the existing identity of BSEC while being up-to-date and user-friendly.

• Empowers students to see themselves represented and feel a sense of belonging — a key emotional and educational value.

• Provides essential information at a glance, making the site search engine and user-friendly.

• Gives BSEC the power to update and maintain the site independently — a valuable long-term SEO asset.

This project not only modernized the brand but also strengthened the school’s connection to its community, making it more search-friendly and community-centric.
